A doctor from Texas couldn’t believe her eyes when she began treating a 2-year-old boy with painful black spots on his body, among other things. It didn’t take long for the truth to unfold as the physician uncovered the grandmother’s sick secret.
A Haltom City grandmother was sentenced on Thursday to 57 years and six months in prison for the scalding death of 2-year-old Lyfe “Gabe” Flores.
Patricia Flores will receive credit for time she already served, WFAA-TV reported.
The 44-year-old woman first told authorities that her grandson had climbed into a tub of hot mop water when she wasn’t looking. But on Monday, she pleaded guilty to murder in the boy’s scalding death.
“She doesn’t deserve to walk among us,” said Tarrant County prosecutor Kelly Meador.
